To All:
Tim is a former Marine and writes for Salem News. invites your stories for review. Tim went Twenty 20 years with out ever seeing or hearing from his son. They are back together now. I pray that we break this 20 year cycle of allowing Family Courts in America from destroying the American family.
Signed,
Up Beat Dad,
Bob and son Casey

Subject: RE: PTSD
Bob,
No, my son who I lost touch with years earlier, is my son now and we went twenty years without knowing each other. His $%#@ mom left the country, married to a soldier, and spent several years in Europe. She violated the divorce decree but what could I do? I called her husband's CO and they didn't try to duck contact for a few years, we sent presents, cards, video tapes, and now know that he never saw any of it, or if he did it didn't have my name on it. So he hasn't talked to her for over a year and we have a great relationship, though he lives in Arizona where he is becoming a deputy sheriff in Cochise County.
The hard drive cameras are really cool, I shot on a new broadcast version called the P2 by Panasonic at my last TV station. There is a smaller version out for about five grand, minus the stuff you need to go with it, but what amazing picture quality.
My wife and I own Salem-News.com and have had it up doing daily mainstream news for Oregon for three and a half years. I write stories all day every day and we are the highest traffic news Website in the nation that isn't corporate owned, and the offshoot of a newspaper or TV station. Being exclusively Web is the future, we're doing it, and trying to grow the business all the time. We do general news and a lot of opinion stuff. More left than right when it comes to politics I suppose, though I've been called right wing for my war coverage. The bottom line is that we're almost all veterans that write for the site. Almost all of us have been in combat or at least spent time in the theater. Our news director is a disabled Navy vet from Desert Storm. Our medical writer was a combat infantryman fighting the Nazi's in 1945. You get the picture. But we're also controversial because we cover medical marijuana for the legal thing it is here and it
freaks a lot of people out. Still, our doctor contends that it is useful for medical treatment particularly when it comes to PTSD, so again we are controversial but man it makes people think.
I am associated with a lot of military stories and with IraqWarHeroes.org which is a tribute to everyone lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. My friend Q. Madp is determined to see respect for the dead and he photographs funerals for the families at no cost and constantly travels to services in Oregon, Washington, California and even beyond. I did also write several stories about some of the BS regarding some soldiers and Marines charged with committing war crimes in Iraq. Seems there are some serious inequities in some of the cases and I am associated with a couple of groups that work on behalf of these guys who are charged.
If you are at these events and you want to shoot some pictures, still or video, and send me a few paragraphs then I can publish it. I don't really have the ability to pay for things but a couple of people write occasionally and I publish their contact information, Website, etc. Let me know if you want to do anything along those lines, good to hear from you.
Tim

newsroom@salem-news.comI have a new cam that records on hard drive and my back up is my disk cam.
WOW!!! 30 Grand. Does your son speak to her.
I will be in Wash DC Aug15, 2008. Rally for the Civil Rights for children and families. F4J.org Fathers for Justice. What kind of news do you report on? DO you know about the Wounded Warrior Act or the Retirement Restitution Act of 2007? I went to Washington D.C> and got a copy from Sen McCain's staff. Its about War Vets, medical issues and those put out on Medical discharges just days before their retirements.
I served 26 years in the service and 18 were Active years. They saved Uncle Sam lost of money by putting me out on a medical discharge. Many soldiers go to war and return home to find them selves jobless and homeless. I just don't get it!!!!!!!
Bob

Robert,
That is really cool, and I can appreciate how you were able to gain trust with people who have so little, same story in Afghanistan. You would likely make a good reporter by the way, and there is also this thing called a video camera that I lug around that is an entire career in itself. Most of the industry still works in pairs, but I like the control of shooting and reporting the same stories, and of course writing and editing them . You would be surprised how much of the technique just boils down to common sense.
You're right, we haven't covered the soldiers getting taken to the cleaners by judges, and here is a quick sidebar story you won't believe; I have a son named Nathan King (Tasch is the name he ended up using) who served two tours in Iraq, he is infantry. He leaves his mom, my ex-wife that I haven't seen in 21 years, his ATM card in case she needs anything for his little brother. She takes it and cleans him out over the course of the deployment, over 30 grand. So let's stay in touch on this subject and it is likely one we can turn into one or more articles. Sorry to hear you and your dad had to go through that, glad you're home for now.
Tim

newsroom@salem-news.comHi Tim
I once trained a few good Marines LOL actually quite a few good Marines. I had a reporter go on one of my patrols with me. My job, well, one of my jobs was to train the ICDC Iraqi Civil def Corps. During this patrol, one of the reporters said to me " I noticed that you were focusing on giving candy to kids more than security issues" I said to him" I can assure you that there was not one man did I miss who did not have a smile on his face nor was there any dark alley or dark window that went un-noticed. He asked me" What would you tell the people back home in order to help the war"? I said "Tell them to send more Chocolate" LOL
I gave out more food, chocolate and money to simply get Intel on the enemy. This Psychological Warfare proved to work. Many times at least 50% of the time the Intel was good and resulted in extending our life span and preventing RPGs from hitting our building.
I would love to be a war reporter.
Picture Attached
One story that I think needs attention is the soldier that returns from war and comes home to an empty bank account and wife left town. Family Court judges are simply Ambushing soldiers and fathers in general.
Theres much more. Maybe you can do a story on fathers being destroyed by Family Court.
I myself was Ambushed by the Benton County Missouri Family Court.
Thanks for returning my mail. I'm on a talk show called "Get off the Bench" Its on now as I am typing to you.
Take care,
Battle Buddy

Dear Robert,
Thank you very much for writing, we will get this email to Dr. Leveque within the next couple of days. Thanks for your service in Iraq bro, I'm a former Marine and a reporter for the last twenty years, one of the few who actually go into the theater (Afghanistan so far, 2 months last winter) and tell it like it is. The doc is a pleasure to work with, and we might have him answering his own email one of these days soon. Look for a reply from him
Take care,
Tim King

contact@veteransforcommonsense.orgHello Dr Leveque,
First of all I would like to say thank you for serving in WWII. My Father, Dale Charles Gipson served his country in the same war as you. His Unit fought the Japanese hand to hand.
I myself returned from Iraq in 2004. I will not even begin to tell you what the VA and the Surgeon Generals office did to me and other soldiers who were at Ft Stewart Ga.
I did not realize that I had PTSD until my first Nightmare. It was not until One year later that I had a dream that I was a POW. The second dream I was actually in Iraq getting bombed at our building at the Old Republican Guard Building in Baghdad. I was so real. The same truck was there, the smell, the gravel all so real. When I woke up it was Thundering and Lightning outside. I just shook my head and said "WOW, this is for real"
After my dream I decided to visit the VA. They caused more PTSD than the Iraq war. I was deceived, put in front of a computer and was told to take a test. All I wanted to do was talk to a real person about my bad dreams and the Iraq War. All the VA wanted to know is if I was going to file a claim for PTSD.
I could go on and on but I don't want to bore you.
Just think, those people who work at the VA are trained to deceive our soldiers returning from war. DO they not realize that if not for soldiers like you, my dad and myself that they could be speaking Japanese or maybe some other foreign language.
I am sure that when the Col finished her talk on TV that she was admired by her boss for such a great job. They all deserve a star but not on their shoulder.
Take care soldier, and thank you for speaking for your Battle Buddies.
Rangers Lead The Way

GOD Bless you brother
