The Mission Continues Fellowship Opportunities with SVA

WASHINGTON, DC – SVA and The Mission Continues are partnering to provide 10 student veterans with meaningful Fellowships at SVA. These paid Fellowships are 26 weeks in length and require 520 hours of service.
Fellows that volunteer with SVA will support a variety of local outreach capacities that include planning and executing a leadership summit, developing new chapters, and communicating best-practices. Ideal candidates will be in areas of high veteran populations, such as: San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, Madison, New York, Washington DC, Dallas, Houston, Denver, or Atlanta.
Applicants interested in becoming a Fellow at SVA must apply online here and select Student Veterans of America as the host organization in the application.
http://www.missioncontinues.org/Programs/fellowsSVA is committed to The Mission Continues’ goal of placing 500 Fellows at non-profits nationwide throughout 2012. Therefore, student veterans that wish to work for a different non-profit organization are also encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Criteria:
•Service in the United States Military after September 11, 2001
•No longer on Active/Guard/Reserve status (IRR/ING status is acceptable) and having attained an honorable discharge
•A minimum of 24 months of time in service, unless serious injury was sustained preventing further service
•A clean criminal record check (individual circumstances may be discussed on a case-by-case basis)

Application Deadline: March 1, 2012
Mandatory Orientation: April 20-22, 2012
Fellowship Start Date: April 23, 2012
Fellowship End Date: October 19, 2012
