Michigan House Resolution NN (2008) Parenting Rights Resolution

We have a very limited amount of time to work on this and make it a reality. Dan Diebolt provided a spread sheet of all the Michigan House State Reps and whether they signed on initially in support of House Resolution NN.

Please start writing all of those listed as "no" and ask for their support. Sell this parenting rights resolution to them. If they are outside of your district you can write your letter as a member of an organization. Inform them at the start of the letter that you are writing them on behalf of organization "X,Y&Z". If you get a House Rep in the "no" section to support this resolution please let others know.

Michigan House Resolution NN (2008) - this parenting rights resolution will benefit many other groups outside of the equal parenting rights movement. In order to be successful we must write other organizations and ask for their support of this resolution and ask for them to actively and publicly support it. Below I suggest some organizations that would support this resolution. If you can think of others please let everyone know and we can add it to the list. Reaching out to other organizations will be more important than many might think! It will add to the large number of people and organizations demanding that this resolution be voted on.

Michigan People and those who know Michigan People and those who want to
change the system in Michigan:

1. Let's get on this, thank all of the sponsors and ask the
non-sponsors why they are not supporting this bill.
2. Let's get the Resolution heard at the same time as HB 4564 by
contacting the Judiciary members.
3. Begin asking interested groups to support the Resolution so that it
gains broad based support.

Not sure this is true because we have 9 (?) shared parenting states already
but a strategic plan to focus resources in certain surrounding states could
really help speed the process up I believe.

Form Letter Asking Non-Sponsoring Michigan Legislators to Support Ho

Wed Jan 30, 2008 11:42 am (PST)
Please take a moment and use this form letter to ask non-sponsoring Michigan Legislators to support Michigan House Joint Resolution NN, which would add a Michigan constitutional amendment to protect the rights of parents.

The message is below and attached (if not stripped). You can also cut and paste the entire message in the comments at:

http://tinyurl.com/34hl6o

Sincerely,

Doug Dante

To:

Eighty of your colleagues already support protecting Michigan's Families through House Joint Resolution NN, calling for a vote of the people to approve a Constitutional amendment which reads:

Sec. 27. Parents and legal guardians have a natural and
fundamental right to direct the care, education, and upbringing of
their children. No government action shall burden, abridge, or
Hinder this natural, fundamental right unless it is in furtherance
of a compelling governmental interest and is the least restrictive
means of furthering that compelling governmental interest.

http://tinyurl.com/2mx82h

The text of this amendment merely reinforces the wisdom of the US Supreme Court, which wrote in Troxel V Granville:

"The liberty interest at issue in this case–the interest of parents in the care, custody, and control of their children–is perhaps the oldest of the fundamental liberty interests recognized by this Court."

Reinforcing their historical affirmation of the rights of parents, the US Supreme Court continued by quoting an early 20th century ruling:

the "liberty of parents and guardians" includes the right "to direct the upbringing and education of children under their control."

And further:

"The law’s concept of the family rests on a presumption that parents possess what a child lacks in maturity, experience, and capacity for judgment required for making life’s difficult decisions. More important, historically it has recognized that natural bonds of affection lead parents to act in the best interests of their children."

http://tinyurl.com/3dwwfk

This proposed amendment merely affirms that the rights that Michigan's families enjoy on a federal level are also covered by Michigan's constitution and enforceable by Michigan's courts.

Please listen to your colleagues, the wisdom of the US Supreme Court, and the people of the State of Michigan, who overwhelmingly support this proposed amendment.

Please protect Michigan's families and support House Joint Resolution NN.

Ok, this is what I sent to your list below:

Please Support House Joint Resolution NN and Help Michigan's Families! Other states are envious of your opportunity to strengthen the bond between the child and both parents.

Children need both a mom and a dad. That's why it makes sense to protect families in Michigan by voting for House Joint Resolution NN.

As Sec. 27 states, "Parents and legal guardians have a natural and fundamental right to direct the care, education, and upbringing of their children."

Who can argue the wisdom of the US Supreme Court? They wrote in Troxel V Granville, "The liberty interest at issue in this case - the interest of parents in the care, custody, and control of their children - is perhaps the oldest of the fundamental liberty interests recognized by this Court."

The bottom line is this: Children Need Both Parents! If I could, I would vote for House Joint Resolution NN. And if children could vote, they would vote for House Joint Resolution NN too!

Please protect Michigan's families and support House Joint Resolution NN.

Created a working list of people we should praise:
http://www.laryholland.com/serendipity

We need to treat any of the Reps that are not supporting this as ANTI-FAMILY and ANTI-SOCIETY. Even though this is in Michigan, the language can be modified for every state and every jurisdiction. Let's get to work.

Make 2008 something special

My Brothers and Sisters, please remember that in the past twelve
months we have seen a variety of American Presidential Candidacies:
we should all remember those whose candidacies have ended, as to we
should remember those who may have suggested some of those
candidacies were efforts in futility.
Sad to say but true, it seems there is some likelihood that
Hillary or B. Hussein will be the democractic offering.
God bless our fellows, who with tenacity and perseverance, have
stood behind their candidates, even when some of those candidates
have not even filed with the FEC.
These message is going to specifics groups, we are an impassioned
lot, and, for good reason.
Fathers are patient (note the tenacity and perseverance above),
empathetic and understanding, inspiring, devoted: 2008 may well be a
pivotal year, note that steps have been made in Father friendly
advertising, illumination of Minnesota Program Development for the
political propaganda that it is, steps to balance VAWA etcetera.
There really is no time to play, and we have been so very good at
impromptu planning: the will be two viable presidential choices in
November one choice democrat which has no Father Friendly Candidate
and one choice republican. Maybe Billary and B. Hussein will hook up
and run together. Maybe Romney and McCain will as well, Huckabee is
lurking about though. Romney does have Four Walls of Family and
Children deserve both parents. Romney has had that for awhile.
I highly urge all of us who can vote this coming Tuesday to vote
Romney, further I suggest we all start communicating with Romney's
Staff, McCain's as well. Let's quit pissing in each other's boot and
make 2008 the Year we give our children their Father's back!

Working on HB 4564 and NN

I was told today that if we continue to have "father's rights" advocates
call State Rep Condino's office that we may have the hearing on HB 4564
cancelled. I am of the firm belief that a hearing without a vote is
meaningless and is a step backward. I also believe that this provides
political cover for these state reps in the committee. I also believe that
we should not be trying to go negative on these politicians. We need to get
in these politicians' offices to discuss HB 4564 and 2008-HJR-NN. To do this
we need their constituents to question their position and request meetings
letting them know that we are available to attend these meetings. Please
focus on developing individuals and organizations within these politicians'
districts:

MICHIGAN ACTION ALERT! HOUSE BILL 4564 and Joint Resolutions NN
Posted by: "Lary Holland" laryholland@sbcglobal.net   frcmichigan
Thu Apr 17, 2008 4:07 pm (PDT)
Your Initial Training Manual for Equal Parenting
Download Here

http://www.legislature.mi.gov/documents/publications/citizensguide.pdf

(Citizens Guide to State Government)

Included in the manual is a COMPLETE call list and contact list of every State legislator. Why? Because YOU are going to call them. Unless of course the meaning of citizen is DO NOTHING GET NOTHING BE NOTHING BUT A SOURCE OF INCOME TO THE STATE!

Say this one statement to each REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATOR on your list and place a check mark that you completed it:
"I am in support of House Joint Resolution because it strengthens the value of parents and portions of our school code under Section 380.10"

Elaborate and take up time.

Section 380.10 "Establishes the role of the parent as a partner intheir child's education and ensures a positive educational setting."

Elaborate that Section 380.10:
Itis the natural, fundamental right of parents and legal guardians todetermine and direct the care, teaching, and education of theirchildren. The public schools of this state serve the needs of thepupils by cooperating with the pupil˘s parents and legal guardians todevelop the pupil˘s intellectual capabilities and vocational skills ina safe and positive manner.

NOW FOR EACH REPRESENTATIVE SAY SOME OR ALL OF THESE WITH REGARDS TO YOUR SUPPORT OF HOUSE BILL 4564
Let each representative know the following:

1. That actual perpetrators of abuse will still be prevented from equally parenting their children. Express your interest being a parent but you are forced absent on a cookie cutter parenting time order.
2. That when available, both parents should be equally available for their children.
3. Conflict between parents will be flushed out quickly by the courts powers of contempt.
4. There will be a reduction in the length of time that it takes for the courts to enter final orders and meet SCAO deadlines.
5. As a taxpayer you do not want to keep funding cases that should otherwise be settled under the new legislation.

If you really want to be a citizen and actually care about resolve these issues, call EACH SENATOR AND SAY THE FOLLOWING:
1. I would like Senator ____________ to introduce a Senate Bill equivalent of House Bill 4564 as soon as possible. I am willing to be an equal parent!
2. Indicate that the many bills only take a mere month or two to get through the Senate and we need the Senator's help.
3. Ask if that Senator would support equal parenting where both parents are fit, willing, and caring to raise their children.

Make notes on your Citizen Handbook. Report back to the group. The only way to actually be effective is to TAKE UNITED ACTION! Or you can keep complaining about your personal case in the yahoo groups and solve nothing.

If you have suggestions on making changes to the above, I'm open and ready to help. Let's get the phones RINGING OFF THE HOOK! SHOW OUR GOVERNMENT THAT THERE ARE A TON OF PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS, AUNTS, AND UNCLES THAT BELIEVE IN EQUAL PARENTING!!! Or do nothing and show the government that the status quo is just fine.

Report your progress daily to the yahoo groups and meetup groups. Be bold, Be concerned, BE A CITIZEN! Persistence and we CAN DO THIS!

Rep Stahl Files Notice of Motion to Discharge HRJ NN Toda
Posted by: "DanDiebolt.exe" dandiebolt@yahoo.com   dandiebolt
Wed Aug 20, 2008 1:23 pm (PDT)
Pursuant to House rules, Rep. Stahl has today filed a notice of intent to file a motion to discharge HJR NN from committee. Because the House is not in session during the summer this is the procedural device used to be able to file the motion to discharge when the House returns to session (believed to be next Wednesday). More info later. This is big news as there were 80 sponsors of the resolution.
