YOUR VOICE MUST BE HEARD!

You expressed your concerns about the well-being of your children and grandchildren, and their importance to you...

Your attendance is necessary at the upcoming Senate and House Judiciary informational hearing in the House Chamber at the Capitol in Charleston on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 from 1pm to 3pm. This hearing will determine whether or not the legislators act on our proposed legislation. Your presence will send a clear message to them – the time to act is NOW!!

There will be distinguished and educated experts speaking on our behalf. Can we count on you to be there? Are you willing to rearrange your schedule to join us? We need you, your family and friends to be part of this historic day.

The Domestic Violence Coalition will already be there with their supporters opposing our bills. We need to show our legislators that our children are important! Without your support, our bills will fail!

Also, we will be in the Capitol Rotunda in Charleston, WV for Children’s Day at the Legislature on Wed., February 13, 2008. MAWAD has a booth in the Upper Rotunda throughout the day, and a Rally from Noon – 2 PM. If you can’t attend either function, please think of people that you can send in your place to show the physical support that is so important.

Can you and your friends and family also fax or email a short letter to us? It needs to state that you support the legislative initiatives of Men & Women Against Discrimination, asking the legislators to vote in favor of them. It needs to be clearly written or typed, with the date, your name, address, and phone number.

For any further inquiries, please contact Men & Women Against Discrimination or call 304-295-0053.

EQUAL PARENTING LEGISLATIVE INFORMATIONAL HEARING

We need your help and participation!!

Great news!! Through the hard work and financial support of our dedicated supporters, our bills are getting serious consideration for passage this Session. We have many legislators telling us that the bills are moving this year. Also, we have been told that most likely a separate sub-committee will be setup to work on our bills.

THIS IS WHAT WE ALL HAVE BEEN WANTING!!!

An Informational Meeting on our bills will take place in the House Chamber at the Capitol in Charleston on Wednesday, January 30th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and we need you and everyone you know to be there by noon (earlier if you can). We are bringing two of the most qualified experts available to speak on this topic, Dr. Warren Farrell (www.warrenfarrell.c om), author of the longest and largest study on children's best interests, Father and Child Reunion, and Dr. Linda Nielson, Professor of Women's Studies and Adolescent Pyschology at Wake Forest University and current President of the American Coalition of Fathers and Children. Join us for this historic day!!

In fact, our opposition is so concerned about this possibility that they have called out their big guns to attempt to kill our bills. Unfortunately, they have payrolled workers that will show up in droves for this Informational Hearing.

Unless we turn out a large following, they will carry the day. We need you to be at the Capitol to mingle with the delegates. Please mark your calendar, tell your family, friends, coworkers and anyone else you see to join us on this date. If there was ever a day to take off work, paid or unpaid, this would be the day!

This is our best hope to keep the drive alive. All the work that has been put into our efforts over the past several years can die a slow death in the committee if you don't show and help us overcome this last hurdle.

If there's no way you can be there, then please click below and send us an email response with the date, your name, address and phone number so we can present it to the legislators.

Please contact Carrie Webster's office and tell her that you support House Bills 4042 - The Joint Parenting Act, 3065 - False Allegations Bill; 4002 - Paternity Fraud Bill, and the Visitation Denial bill to be introduced this week.

We need you and your friends to call all the members of the Judiciary and tell them to ask Carrie Webster to "RUN THE BILLS". If we put enough heat on them, they cannot stop the train once it leaves the station.

Most of the men support our bills. Moore, Lane, Tabb, Shook, Stemple, Ellem and Proudfoot are sponsors while Kessler, Azinger Sobonya,Long, Burdiss and Overington have shown strong support. Guthrie, Hrutkay, Brown, Fleischauer, and Webster are strong opponents. The rest are sitting the fence without committing one way or another. Those are the most important calls to make and tell them you would like for them to su p port the bills. A call to the supporters thanking them for supporting the legislation will help shore up the support and a call to the opponents will soften their attempts to upend the support. We only need 13 if it is put on the agenda and, as you can see, we have 13 in strong support. It is extremely important to call Carrie Webster and tell her you want her to run the bill. She has the sole power to allow it on the agenda and sole power to keep it from a vote in the committee. Please call and have all of your friends to do the same.

Keep these numbers handy because you will need them again later to continue the push. We will keep you updated on when to call.
