West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin (right) speaks with CRISPE Founder Larry Kerkman on the CRISPE Bus about equal shared parenting. Over 35 State Legislatures from West Virginia had personal tours of the CRISPE Bus!
Men and Women for Discrimination invited the big purple bus to West Virginia to meet with there legislators over a three day period. Tim Fittro, one of the leaders of the organization, personally introduced Larry to over seventy of the legislators. About half of those legislators came on the bus to check it out and talk about equal shared parenting. Yes, even governor Joe Manchin himself decided to come on for a short visit and actually sat down to discuss our issues. The governor seemed very concerned and sincerely listened as Tim and Larry educated him on some of the problems and issues of family court. The governor even gave some pointers on what would help our movement as did many of the other legislators. West Virginia was previously known as the “Honking State” (most honks by cars during the rallies, 90%) by the CRISPE team. Now with Tim and the people of West Virginia working hard with their legislators, I believe that West Virginia will see Equal Shared Parenting next year. Congratulations to the Men and Women for Discrimination for the great work done by their teams in educating your legislators and rallying all the people to help make change, your reward is near. |
