Swine Flu Global Pandemic Puts Kids in Broken Homes More at Risk

swine-fluSwine Flu:

Global Pandemic can put more risk to children in broken homes than intact homes.  Jack Spirko of “The Survival Podcast talks about being prepared for any emergency.  The Swine Flu is a wake up call to be prepared and be ready for any disaster because we can’t depend on the government to be competent i.e. Katrina.

Swine Flu can have disastrous consequences in broken home America because families are already weakened by being split into two households.  In the 1918 flu epidemic, the flu showed up in the spring with little showing and came back deadly in the fall killing over 500,000 Americans.

Children in Foster and CPS custody will be the hardest hit if this flu comes back just like it was a death sentence to all prisoners locked up in 1918 very few survived.  No telling what can happen, we all need to re-focus on our families and not expect the government to be able to save us.

Human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection have been identified in the United States. Human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection also have been identified internationally. The current U.S. case count is provided below.

An investigation and response effort surrounding the outbreak of swine flu is ongoing.

CDC is working very closely with officials in states where human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) have been identified, as well as with health officials in Mexico, Canada and the World Health Organization. This includes deploying staff domestically and internationally to provide guidance and technical support.

CDC activated its Emergency Operations Center to coordinate the agency’s response to this emerging health threat and yesterday the Secretary of the Department Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, declared a public health emergency in the United States. This will allow funds to be released to support the public health response. CDC’s goals during this public health emergency are to reduce transmission and illness severity, and provide information to assist health care providers, public health officials and the public in addressing the challenges posed by this newly identified influenza virus. To this end, CDC has issued a number of interim guidance documents in the past 24 hours. In addition, CDC’s Division of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is releasing one-quarter of its antiviral drugs, personal protective equipment, and respiratory protection devices to help states respond to the outbreak. Laboratory testing has found the swine influenza A (H1N1) virus susceptible to the prescription antiviral drugs oseltamivir and zanamivir. This is a rapidly evolving situation and CDC will provide updated guidance and new information as it becomes available.

What You Can Do to Stay Healthy

There are everyday actions people can take to stay healthy.

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.

Try to avoid close contact with sick people.

  • Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
  • If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

  2. How about coughing or sneezing into the elbow, another recommendation to avoid spreading germs. Now that we know the swine flu can be spread person to person, it is SO important to take a proactive approach to germ prevention. There is a great program out that does just that called Germy Wormy Germ Smart Kids. It teaches young children in an innovative, imaginative and cost-effective way the CDC recommendations (and more) to both avoid catching AND keep from spreading germs. Parents, teachers and daycare providers are raving about it!

  3. You are right it takes both parents to help children survive things like this especially when 911 is not answering. I like how you say we need to depend on ourselves and not the government.

  4. crispe.org – da best. Keep it going!

  6. the spread of AH1N1 or Swine Flu is really scary. It is a good thing that this virus is not very deadly. We are advised to take Vitamin-C and to wear face masks.

  7. the use of face masks and boosting your immune system by taking lots of vitamin-C is still an effective way of preventing the spread of the Swine Flu virus.

  8. i always advice my kids to wear face masks when going into crowded areas. swine flu is really scary and i dont want my kids getting infected by it.

  9. I caught swine flu and although the fever was pretty aggressive it was fairly mild case.

  10. Swine flu is worse when you have to put your trust in raising kids by a single mom. These women demand to get paid money when they left their husbands. These whore should be paying the men. Curse the US and welcome its downfall!
